The aim of the IR(A) course; is to train pilots to the level of proficiency necessary to operate aeroplanes under IFR and in IMC in accordance with ICAO and JAR-FCL Regulations (PANS-OPS Document 8168) . The course consists of two modules, which may be taken separately or combined:

•Single-engine Instrument Rating (SE-IR)
•Multi-engine Instrument Rating (ME-IR)

Pre-Entry Requirements :

Below mentioned requirements shall be met in order to undergo Commercial Pilot Licence Training

(Instrument Rating) :
•An applicant for a modular IR(A) course shall be the holder of a PPL(A) or a CPL(A), either licence to include the privileges to fly by night, issued in accordance with ICAO Annex 1.
•An applicant for an IR(A) shall have demonstrated the ability to use the English language as set out in Appendix 1 to JAR–FCL 1.200.
•An applicant for an IR(A) shall posses an appropriate medical certificate relevant to his/her licence.
•An applicant shall hold multi-engine class rating for Multi-engine Instrument Rating Course.

An applicant shall obtain the following documents:
•Trainee Application Form
•Medical Fitness Report from a hospital approved by DGCA-TR / Copy of Medical Certificate (JAR-FCL Class I/II) , Blood Type Certificate
•Judicial Record & Previous Conviction Document by Ministry of Justice from own country (only for International Student Pilots)
•Passport Photocopy (In colour, readable) (only for International Student Pilots)
Residence Permission Document from police center-foreigners division) (for International Student Pilots) (only for International Student Pilots)
•Certificate of Graduation or Diploma (Highschool/University, Piloting License)
•Certificate of English Language Knowledge (in notarized document form)
•16 Passport-Size Photograph
Minimum age ( J AR–FCL 1.100 ) : An applicant for a IR(A) shall be at least 18 years of age.

Educational Requirements :
Applicant shall be the holder of at least “High School Degree” or equivalent which is approved by Turkish Ministry of National Education (MEB).

Medical fitness JAR–FCL 1.145: An applicant for a CPL(A) shall hold a valid Class 1 medical certificate from a hospital authorized by DGCA-TR.Privileges and conditions (JAR–FCL 1.180)

(a) Privileges:
Subject to the rating restrictions imposed by use of another pilot functioning as a co-pilot (multi-pilot restriction) during the skill test set out in Appendices 1 and 2 to JAR–FCL 1.210, and any other conditions specified in JARs, the privileges of a holder of a multi-engine IR(A) are to pilot multi-engine and single-engine aeroplanes under IFR with a minimum decision height of 200 feet ( 60 m ).
Subject to the skill test conditions set out in Appendices 1 and 2 to JAR–FCL1.210, and any other conditions specified in JARs, the privileges of a holder of a single-engine IR(A) shall be to pilot single-engine aeroplanes under IFR with a minimum decision height of 200 feet ( 60 m ).

(b) Conditions:

Pilots wishing to undertake instrument flight rating shall be required to undergo theoretical knowledge training and required instrument flight instruction at an approved FTO with an approved training program.
Instrument flight training can be obtained either by PPL(A) or CPL(A) licence holders or as a part of whole pilot training including PPL, CPL and IR trainings.
Instrument rating training consists of theoretical ground training and flight training. Theoretical ground training shall be completed at most 18 months. Check flights shall be carried out according to Skill Test forms within 12 months after theoretical ground training completed succesfully.

Experience and Crediting (JAR–FCL 1.190)
If an applicant is the holder of an IR(H) the total amount of flight instruction may be reduced to 10 hours in single-engine or multi-engine aeroplanes.

An applicant for an IR(A) shall hold a PPL(A) including a night qualification or CPL(A) and shall have completed at least 50 hours cross-country flight time as pilot-in-command in aeroplanes or helicopters of which at least 10 hours shall be in aeroplanes.

Training Syllabus:
An applicant wishing to take SE/IR or ME/IR instruction at AYJET Anatolian Stars FTO shall undergo theoretical training and flight instructions which are organized according to the trainees’ conditions as mentioned below:
If an PPL(A) licence holder applies for SE/IR:
• 200 hours theoretical knowledge training,
• Undergoes 50 hours instrument flight instruction on single-engine aeroplane.
If an applicant is a holder of ME type or class rating on PPL(A) licence:
• 200 hours ground training
• 55 hours instrument flight training
If an applicant is not a holder of ME type or class rating on PPL(A) licence shall undergo additionally:
• 6 hours flight instruction
• 9 hours ground training

CPL(A) licence holder compatible with ICAO undergoes training as follows:
• 200 hours theoretical training
• 45 hours flight instruction for SE/IR (on single-engine aeroplanes)
• 50 hours flight instruction for ME/IR.
If the trainee is PPL(A) or CPL(A) and SE/IR licence holder and possesses multi-engine class or type privileges and wishing to receive ME/IR training:
• Undergoes 5 hours flight instruction on single-pilot multi-engine aeroplane
